From time to time, Kactus Kathy's has retired show or breeding dogs available to pet homes. Not everyone wants to deal with raising a puppy and may prefer to get an older dog. When getting any dog, but especially an older dog you must be aware of the Rule of Three.
New Pup, Now What?
The 3/3/3 rule is a general guideline for a dog's adjustment period after being adopted. Please keep in mind every dog is different and will adjust differently.
3 Days: Overwhelmed; may feel scared/unsure of what's happening; not comfortable/not being "themselves"; May not want to eat/drink; Shuts down and/or hides under furniture; Tests the boundaries.
3 Weeks: Starts settling in; Feels more comfortable; Realizes this could be forever home; Figures out environment & routine; May begin to show true personality; Behavior issues may appear.
3 Months: Finally feels comfortable on their own; Begins to build trust & a true bond; Gains a complete sense of security with the family; Gets into a routine.

"Zack" DOB: 12-01-2018
Zack is a retired show dog and stud dog. He has been neutered and is looking for his forever home. He is a sweetheart and loves laps and sleeping in bed under the covers. He gets along with other dogs and generally loves people. He has a tendency to gain weight after his neuter and his diet should be monitored closely. $2500
